The number one question. . .

When you look at your images through the years, we want you to remember the experience of a custom photographer and the personal attention to you.

Each session includes:

     • A pre-session welcome package with information and advice for getting ready.

     • Your choice of a session that will be customized to suit your preferences including access to a variety of locations.

     • Approximately 1-2 weeks after your session you will view and order your images projected onto a large screen in the studio.  During this appointment we will walk you through the ordering process and help you create custom artwork out of your favorite portraits.

The studio is open by appointment only.  Please fill out the contact section of this site or call for an appointment.

Senior sessions are $150. Clients typically spend between $800-$4,500 for a wide variety of products for their home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Shea Studio is a full service photography studio

What does that mean?!
It means that we are there with you from beginning to end. We help you design your session from location to clothing, props and backdrops, and everything you need help with!
We also provide our clients with high quality prints and products, gorgeous metal and canvas prints, and breath taking albums.

What happens of it rains?
We reschedule your appointment for our next mutually available opening. If that opening is later than you would like it to be, we will put you at the top of our waiting list so you can take advantage of possible earlier openings.

Do you offer images on disk?
We do not sell proofs, unedited images or all images from a photo shoot on disk. We believe portraits are designed to be displayed in the home, not stuck on a hard drive, but files are included in our collections.

Choosing & Ordering:
A week or two after your photo shoot we meet with you again to show you your pictures, help you pick your favorites and place your order. We will schedule your ordering appointment at your session.
We provide a high-touch, consultative approach to help you select the best products, sizes and options to suit your needs and get the best value for your money.
The ordering session will last approximately one hour.
Half of your total is due at time of ordering. Short term payment plans are also available. The total amount due is required before any order leaves the studio.
Ordering appointments are typically conducted at our studio, however, where this is impractical do to long distances, we can talk about other choosing options.

Pickup & Delivery:
Print orders are usually completed in 2-3 weeks. Orders including Premier Albums can take 5-8 weeks. Most clients pick up their orders at our studio by appointment.

We accept all credit cards, cash and check.

Looking Camera Ready

A little preparation goes a long way. Here are some things to keep in mind as you anticipate your big moment.

CLOTHING: We have a few general rules for clothing: Wear what you love & bring extra outfits! Accessorize as much as you are
comfortable! Dress for the weather - ever try to look pretty while you were shivering? The rest really depends on the location and look we are trying to achieve.

HAIR: Most stylists recommend having your hair cut two to three weeks prior to your photo session. Your hair will look healthy, you’ll be used to working with it. This applies to both girls and guys.
If you want to try different looks during your session it’s best to start with your hair down. Adding accessories like headbands and clips, can leave marks or flyaways in your hair.

FACE: Subtle make-up, when properly applied, beautifully highlights your eyes, plays up your bone structure, and nicely evens out your complexion. Stay away from anything shimmery.
Clean up your eyebrows! This is another one that applies to the guys as well as girls. Unibrows are never in vogue.
Guys, shave the day of your session. If you want some scruff or sideburns, make it look intentional,
    not shabby.

NAILS: Don’t forget your nails. Neutral or clear polish looks best. A full manicure and pedicure isn’t necessary, but clean and trimmed nails are! Are you still with us, guys?

Planning is all it takes for a polished and stylish session that you’ll remember forever. Here are a few essentials to bring along to your session.

Grab your props! A trumpet, soccer balls, flowers, textbooks, ballet slippers, even cars can add visual interest!
Don’t forget to get a good night’s sleep before your session and stay out of the sun. You’ll want to be energetic and alert without that sunburned or “I just pulled an all-nighter” look in your eyes!

What to Where

We know you think a lot about what to wear for portraits, but there is another “where” you’ll need to consider,
as in where will you have your pictures taken?  Here are some of our favorite places.

Urban: How about a back alley with a fire escape, an old warehouse with interesting brickwork or worn windows? Graffiti, brick with peeling paint, or old signage can all serve as fantastic backdrops. If you are an adventurous type who likes to explore, this setting can add striking contrast to seniors dressed up in something chic.

Natural: Natural settings are popular because outdoor light is so flattering and easy to work with. Ackley’s Prairie Bridges Park works well for this type of session, or anywhere with trees, long paths, open grassy spaces, or ponds and fencing. If you like to be active and moving, a natural setting will provide the most freedom.

Studio: Seniors who like a controlled setting or clean lines, and don’t want to worry about the elements or other contingencies might prefer the simplicity of the studio. We offers a variety of backdrops, props, furniture, and lighting to complement any style.

Custom: What are your passions? Channel that into a customized shoot somewhere you love. The barre at a dance studio? The golf course? The possibilities are as limitless as your imagination.
